a sequence of poems by Christopher Leibow

About

These poems are  a meditation on the space between lovers, whether together or apart. The river is a tangible manifestation of that space. The speaker of the poem cannot bodily cross the space without the permission of the other. The space takes on a personality. True love is respecting the privacy and space of the other, accepting them as an autonomous being and honoring their autonomy, no matter what that entails.
